Savvy Online Shoppers Get Cash Back

My favorite thing about shopping online is the convenience factor – I can compare prices, read reviews and have items delivered right to my doorstep.  No driving around from store to store, dealing with the inevitable toddler meltdown, wondering if I’m getting the best price.  If I can get the product I need and save money doing it, I’m in.  If you’ve been shopping online, you’re no doubt familiar with promo/coupon codes.  If you’re anything like me the words “free shipping” put a smile on your face.  While you can save plenty of money with promo codes and free shipping alone, you’re leaving a lot more on the table if you’re not looking for one more thing: cash back.

There are several cash back sites out there, and lately my favorite is ShopAtHome.  They offer a 110% cash back guarantee, so if you find a better cash back offer on another site, they won’t just match it, they’ll beat it.  I’m also loving their WILD daily deals, where they offer a product each day at a huge discount.

For those unfamiliar with the site, here’s a rundown of how ShopAtHome works:

The first thing you’ll need to do is register for a ShopAtHome account.  It’s easy and free.  You’ll even receive a $5 sign up bonus when you make your first purchase.  Once you’re registered, use the site as a portal to your favorite online retailers.  From the ShopAtHome home page you can use the search box to find your favorite retailer.  Let’s say I want to shop at Target.  I find the Target Coupons page, which looks something like this:

ShopAtHome Target Coupons

Clicking the blue “Shop Now” button will open a Shopping Ticket and take me to where I can make my purchase.  After the purchase, the listed cash back will post to my ShopAtHome account.  This usually happens within a couple of days, but it can take as long as 30 days.  When you do a lot of shopping online, these little kickbacks really start to add up.  Once your account balance hits $20.00, you will receive a cash back check in the mail.  ShopAtHome issues checks once a month, so you won’t be waiting too long once you hit that threshold.  Frequently you’ll see special cash back events when the cash back percentage hits double digits.

Along with the cash back benefits, ShopAtHome is also a great resource for coupon codes for online retailers, printable grocery coupons, restaurant coupons and free samples.

What is your best tip for saving more online? – Online Savings with Less Hassle

You’ve put in the time, talked to your friends, read all the reviews, done your research and you’re finally ready to pull the trigger on that new vacuum. You’ve found the best price, with a few clicks of the mouse it’s in your cart and you’re reaching for your credit card. But wait…could you save more with a promo code? Free shipping sure would be nice. Back to Google you go, hunting down those elusive codes and hoping that when you find them they won’t be expired. Sound familiar?

I’ve saved loads of money with promotion codes and free shipping makes me downright giddy. Getting lucky enough to combine them both is a savvy online shopper’s dream. Finding these codes can be worth the effort, but the search can be both time-consuming and frustrating. I was recently introduced to a site that aims make the process a bit easier,

On the site, you’ll find an extensive database of promotional codes from retailers ranging from Apple to Walmart and everything in between.  If you know have a specific retailer in mind, you can easily pull up a list of current promotional codes with the search box.  There is also a directory of stores that you can browse.  Free shipping codes can be found on a separate page, also organized by retailer. allows deal seekers to help each other out by posting new promotional codes to the site.  Users also help in keeping the codes current by reporting their success or failure as they shop.  The codes are also spot checked by site administrators and if a code has not worked for three days and reaches a certain percentage of failure, it is removed from the site.

Want to receive e-mail updates when there is a new promo code for your favorite store?  They’ll be happy to send them your way in a daily or weekly digest.

Saving time is as important as saving money in my book, can help with a little of both.

To give you an idea of the possible savings:

Huggies Size 4

My twins currently use Huggies Snug and Dry Diapers in Size 4.  Amazon’s current price is for a box of 140 diapers is $33.59.  When I purchase them with Subscribe and Save through Amazon Mom, the price drops to $23.51 (about 17 cents per diaper).  This alone beats the price I’ve paid at Costco in the past.  Add a 20% off coupon and the final price is just $16.79 shipped!  That’s just under 12 cents per diaper, a great price for Huggies and they are delivered to my door.

I love Amazon Mom!

Shopping, Saving and the Endless Pursuit of Free Shipping

Does a trip to the mall with a four year old and a pair of two year olds rank high on your list fun things to do?  I’d rather go to the dentist.  Really, I would.  They have massaging chairs and nobody pouts, whines or demands a cookie.

When asked if I’d be out shopping on Black Friday, my answer was “No way!  I’ll be at home, shopping in my pjs.”  That got me thinking.  I shop online a lot.  Not only that, I’m pretty good at it.  I’ve been sharing tips and deals with friends and family for years, why not start a blog about it?  So here we are.  Be sure to subscribe and/or follow on Facebook or Twitter so you don’t miss a bargain!
